We just got an update from our Landscaping company: "Next week we will start edging and cultivating of the shrub beds and will put in the annuals at the Cascade entrance beside the water fall. Other maintenance work like mowing, trimming, watering of annuals, removal of garbage and general keep up will as per schedule."

Our waterfall is finally up and running. Sorry for the delay from the originally planned Monday start up. They ran into breaker issue trying to get the pumps started. Landscaping will be completed shortly and I'll post a timeline as soon as we get it from the landscapers. For all of you wondering why everything was delayed so much this year, it is directly tied to our investigation to take over the maintenance of the city parks in our area. These parks are horribly maintained and make up the vast majority of our parks. After the very lengthy process of getting bids through the city it became apparent that we would not be able to do this without significantly increasing area fees. We then had to initiate the tender process again for a new scope of work and we selected the new landscaping company a few weeks ago. They just finished major repairs on the waterfall (cracks, electrical, pumps) and all of the park irrigation systems and are about to start the plants and cleanup up of all of the beds. The neglect by the past landscaping company and the poor construction of most of the infrastructure by the original developer meant we had to spend a lot of time this year to make things right. We'll have more detailed info coming in July with our Q2 newsletter. Thanks for your patience.

    Hello RRROCA Members,
We have a few upcoming events that are just around the corner and we wanted to share the details with you!

    PARADE OF GARAGE SALES

We are having our Annual Parade of Garage Sales this month and hope you are participating this year! We had over 85 homes participate last year; let's see if we can increase that number this year!

The "Parade" runs Friday June 15 (6-9pm), Saturday June 16 & Sunday June 17 (8am - 1pm both days). If you would like to have a garage sale during these dates, please e-mail your address and the day(s) you are participating to events@rrroca.org so you are included in the advertising efforts to help draw traffic to your home.

    STAMPEDE BREAKFAST

YEEHAW!!  Put on your boots, grab your cowboy hat and come celebrate with your community! Our 4th annual Stampede Breakfast is set for Saturday July 7th, 9am-12pm at the North West Family Church (10307 Eamon Rd). Come join us for breakfast, live music, and fun activities for the kids (face painting, bouncy houses, lots more)!! Looking forward to seeing you there!

Also, we are always looking for volunteers to help out in our community. If this interests you, let me know by emailing events@rrroca.org. Please mention if you want to help with a particular event or participate on the events committee (help plan future events). Please indicate the amount of time you can offer (maybe you want to offer your help ongoing or a one time event). Would love to hear from you!

Don't forget to Like us on FACEBOOK (Rocky Ridge Royal Oak Community Association) or follow us on TWITTER (RRROCA1) to stay connected with the latest updates in our community.

    Thank you

This proposed off-leash area will not proceed. A majority of stakeholders strongly opposed the re-designation of the existing green space to an off-leash area for several reasons, including the loss of existing recreational uses of the green space and irresponsible pet owners.

Are you concerned about weeds invading your property from neighbouring areas?

Several residents have expressed concern about weeds invading their carefully maintained properties. Can you identify weeds and differentiate them from benign native plants? CRORA is partnering with the Rocky Ridge Royal Oak Community Association to host an invasive weeds information session this spring. If you are interested, please let us know.

Currently there are only 6 volunteers in the Cascades in Royal Oak Residents Association.  We urgently need more volunteers to help to create the community that we all want.

If you are interested in Volunteering, please contact Tara at 403-781-6623 or email CRORA@smallbusinessaccountants.ca
